Wool Grading & Collection

Almost 100 years on and with an anticipated 1,300 new customers this year ... times have changed but more importantly for our customers we recently made some substantial changes to the way we organise our wool collection and grading to provide the best service possible. With our service extending across to Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Hampshire, we are expecting to grade 1.8 million kilos of wool this year which means timing of deliveries and collections will be crucial. With the encouragement of the Wool Board and to aid efficiency, we now grade over a 7 month period which means we can only take wool in for grading when we have room at either our central grading depot at Stamford or your local wool collection centre.

By lengthening our season, we can deal with the wool received in a more efficient manner thus offering a much improved service. Whilst this has meant wool being on farm longer, we will still hope to grade all the wool by the end of October – considerably sooner than most of the Wool Board’s own grading centres.

Due to the above changes, we ask that those of you who can easily store your wool, to please do so, in order that we can uplift other wool from producers who have no storage facilities in the first instance. All wool stored after 1^st October will achieve a better price with the storage premium as explained in the British Wool Marketing Board Price Schedule.
